celeb sighting of sorts
I was running South on the lake path this evening, about halfway through a 14-miler when the episode in question occured.
As anybody reading this probably knows, I had a terrible summer runningwise. But this particular run was really enjoyable for change. I was humming along at maybe 6.50 pace when, just south of Addison I suddenly heard a pair of very light feet scrunching the gravel behind me.
I looked over my left shoulder in time to see a lanky, blond-haired lad with no shoulders to speak of glide by me. I figure he was running at about 5.10 pace.
Now, when I'm in shape I can run that fast for a little while. But I assume I look kind of ridiculous doing it. Whereas this kid was positively floating; clearly he was a pro.
'Evening,' I said.
'Hey,' he replied.
Then! A flash of recognition.
'Hey are you Ryan Hall?'
'Nope,' he was lying and I knew it.
I pondered his response for a beat and shouted after him, 'Buuuuulshit.'
Then I laughed, 'Lying: That's not too Godlike HALL.'
But he had disappeared into the night. I picked it up a little bit.

that is awesome. i've never managed any trash talk mid-run...maybe with a cyclist or two...but certainly not with an olympian :)
